Key points from October meeting

Updated: Oct 20

  • It is an ambition of MIS to see a dedicated cycle path between East and West Mersea and we are looking for people who may be able to help drive this project.

  • Our recent talk at Mersea Museum was very well attended. The speakers, Ian Low & Graham Frost, asked for a donation to the proch pantry for their 'fee'. £60 was duly donated.

  • Our leaflet explaining our role on the island went into the most recent edition of Mersea Life and has generated some interest in what we do and several new members.

Planning & Development

  • Town council has not minuted how many houses Mersea might be allocated in future plan but MIS has asked to be informed once this has been decided.

  • Dawes Lane: WMTC are going to launch a public consultation as to whether they should purchase the recereational land. This would involve WMTC taking on the maintenance which would obviously cost the taxpayers.

Upcoming Events

  • Our AGM is 6th November at Mersea Museum. 7pm for prompt start at 7.30pm. This will be followed by a talk by Dougal Urquart on the effect of climate change on Mersea wildlife. All are welcome but only members are able to vote on resolutions.
